How To Make New Year's Resolutions Stick: Healthy Eating + Sport

Here we go, I've been meaning to do this post for quite a long time. We all make these New Year's resolutions to start living a healthier lifestyle, get more organized, work out more, etc. And although, I'm a firm believer that you can dramatically change your life at any day of the year (and you actually should improve yourself all the time!), I think that the New Year can be a great push to really try hard to start living the life, you've always wanted to have. 

I've completely changed my lifestyle in 2014: started working out almost every day, eating healthy and overall improved my life (& first of all, myself) a lot! I'd made a resolution and I managed to stick to it. Today I wanna share with you a bit of my journey and tell you how you can also change your life!

First and foremost, it all starts with eating. As the saying goes - ''We are what we eat.'' I don't even know what should I start with. I've spotted some dramatic changes since I'd completely illuminated processed sugars, fast food and all other junk from my ration. To begin with, I've lost about 8kg in 6 months (yep, it's a long time, but I know for sure that I've lost fat, not muscles or water!). Also, my skin finally cleared out, maybe not completely, but there's a huge difference anyway. And overall, my entire body has changed: hair and nails have become stronger, I almost never have stomach cramps, I started feeling so much more energized, I become a 'morning person'. I'd never thought I'd be all of that!

During my journey, I've discovered so many healthy meals, I'd never heard about before. As you may have noticed, I've been posting lots of different healthy recipes on my blog, which I'm myself enjoy eating. The best way to enjoy this lifestyle is to find delicious foods. For example, if you have a sweet tooth (like I do), I'd recommend to try dates, honey, dried fruits, bananas, natural peanut butter and 100% cocoa - these are my absolute favorites! That came to me as a shocker that I can actually eat pancakes & cookies that are healthy and delicious! And of course, there are always a bunch of super yummy fruits and berries. 

Once you start noticing positive changes in your body and mind, you'd never wanna go back to your previous unhealthy lifestyle. Read more information on healthy eating (Internet, magazines, books) and really get to know what certain foods can do to your body. There is a really good quote - ''Every time you eat or drink you are either feeding disease or fighting it.'' So, figure out what is more important for you!

Sport has become another huge part of my life. Besides the obvious changes in the body, it gives you self-confidence, strong health, relieves the stress and anxiety (I needed that!). One of my favorite workouts is kickboxing and I think it's because I get to relieve all my tension. You should totally try some kind of boxing, it's so therapeutic! Speaking about my workout, I do everything at home along with fitness videos on YouTube. I've made a whole post about a year ago, talking about my favorite YouTube channels. I like to work out this way, because that's almost as if you are having a session with a personal trainer and get to choose any kind of sport activity. 

I like to start with a jump rope and some kind of cardio to warm up my body, then do some muscle exercises and follow up with a stretching. The last part is a must, because it helps a lot with a soreness the next day and also elongates your muscles. I like to do kickboxing to release all the stress, as I've mentioned already, and yoga to calm down, lower the level of anxiety and completely relax at the end of the day.

As with the eating, the key is to find what works for you and what you'll really enjoy doing. It shouldn't be a torture, it should be something you'll be looking forward to. Try to have fun!

Once you wanna give up, eat these cookies or a slice of pizza, just think what it'd do to your body, think how proud you'd be if you decide to stay on track with healthy eating and not give up. Find some motivation on Pinterest, WeHeartIt, different healthy websites, etc. Every time you feel the lack of motivation, go on any of these sites and find the reason to keep moving in the right direction! But most importantly, this reason should be inside of your head, you'd never be able to stick to your goals, if you don't want it enough. So ask yourself, do I wanna be a healthy and confident person or do I wanna stay in my comfort zone my whole life.

"Life begins outside of your comfort zone!"
