My Hair Extensions Experiment

Today I have a slightly different post than usually. If you've been a follower of my blog for a while, you know that I had long hair pretty much all my life (you can find examples here and here) and then I cut it short last year and even shorter once again. Although I still think that was one of the best decisions of my life, I decided it'd be fun to experiment a little with hair extensions and have an option of long hair.

My extensions are from IrresistableMe and they're 'Silky Touch' 22 inches, 200 grams in Light Brown. I was hesitating for some time on which color to choose, and after all decided to go with a slightly lighter shade than my own hair, since it looks more natural. Plus, my hair tend to go 2 tones lighter in the summertime.

It was my first time trying one hair extensions and honestly, it took some effort and a couple YouTube videos to clip them in the right way, so they'd look as naturally as possible. For me it was twice harder, since I now have short hair, which can show up underneath, so by trial and error, I found out that it's better to secure a part of hair with some bobby pins at the nape of your neck. Here's a great video on how to clip-in hair extensions, and it includes the trick.

Also, if your natural hair length differ a lot from the extensions, ALWAYS curl your hair (and extensions too, of course)! Otherwise, they just wouldn't blend together... No way they would!

A few more things:

- You should wash them after 10-20 wears, which is quite a lot, if you're not gonna wear them every day.

- You can straighten and curl them as you would your own hair.

- Hair extensions can help you create the most beautiful hairstyles (think braids, updos, etc).

Have you ever worn hair extensions? Also, I'd love to hear any tricks on how to make them look good them with short hair.

Thanks for reading!
